8 x 10 in Framed Print ( 1 of 1) of Acrylic Painting (original sold)
This piece is a meditation on masculinity, vulnerability, and the evolving lens through which I see the men in my life. A Black man, adorned with florals, his eyes veiled beneath petals, exists in a space of both protection and exposure. His strength intertwined with softness, his presence both seen and obscured.
For so long, I wrestled with my perceptions of masculinity, shaped by the weight of disappointment and the echoes of absent or fractured father figures. But in this painting, I allow myself to revisit, to revise, to reimagine. The layers of floral adornment speak to the depth often overlooked in Black men…their need for love, tenderness, and sanctuary in a world that demands they be unyielding.
This is not just a portrait; it is a reckoning. It is an invitation to see men as more than their struggles, more than their silence. It is a declaration that softness does not weaken them, that peace is something they deserve to hold, even if they have never been taught how to grasp it.
