With her head slightly bowed, a Black woman stands adorned in a crown encrusted with diamonds which is an emblem of her resilience, her worth, and her undeniable presence. Surrounded by lush florals reminiscent of Victorian-era portraiture, she exists in a space where Black women were often erased, yet here she reigns, undeniable and everlasting.
This piece is an ode to the confidence, strength, and regal nature of Black women. A reminder that our existence is not an afterthought, but a legacy. Too often, history has tried to silence us, to push our brilliance into the shadows. Yet, like a crown set with unbreakable stones, we endure. We shine. We refuse to be diminished.
Her gaze is lowered not in submission, but in reflection and gathering strength. When she lifts her head, it will be with the full awareness of who she is: a queen, a force, a presence that demands to be seen. This is a call for every Black woman to hold her chin high, to embrace her power, and to never let the world dim her light.
